The Breathe Charity Fund annual report for 2023

For the second year in 2023, Ukraine continues to face the challenges of war. The nation has suffered significant losses and hardships, but Ukrainians remain united in their support for one another. Despite the difficulties, we demonstrate remarkable courage and resilience, finding strength in our solidarity to resist the aggression and help those in need. The Ukrainian spirit is a shining example of the unbreakable human will in the face of adversity.

The Breathe Charity Fund was established to support medical facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the full-scale invasion of the russian federation required us to reconsider our priorities. Since the beginning of the aggression, the Fund has been raising all funds and resources to support hospitals and civilians affected by the war in Ukraine. This year, we decided to start a partnership with DoLadu Mental Health. The main objective of our cooperation is psychological support and recovery of the military and civilian population, particularly the formation of a mental health culture in society.

In addition to close cooperation with DoLadu, the Fund continues its grant programme to cover part of the rent of state property tenants. A joint project was implemented with HIDNE ZHYTLO LLC (Decent Homes), which aims to provide free housing for more than 250 Ukrainian temporary displaced people.

Other projects implemented thanks to contributions from donors of the Breathe Charity Fund include cooperation with NGO “Samson the Victorious” to provide food and medical supplies to civilians in the frontline areas. It also helps the Svitlovodsk City Council of Kirovohrad Oblast, Voznesensk Geriatric Nursing Home, helps animals affected by the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric station, supports the “Dignified Old Age” initiative by partnering with the esteemed “Let’s Help!” fund.

Organising charity events at the end of the year has become a tradition. The “Christmas Miracle of Hope” initiative has identified three projects that require funding. Firstly, the initiative aims to cover the expenses of the Medical Rehabilitation Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine “Puscha Vodica” to support the DoLadu Mental Health joint initiative. Secondly, the Blagomay Charity Foundation will organise a two-month offline training programme for girls aged 13 to 18. Lastly, the initiative aims to purchase warm kits for older people in the Chernihiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Zhytomyr regions. These kits will be delivered with the assistance of the Starenki Charity Foundation.
